Greetings and Welcome to Odyssey Theatre for the Young of Art and Goatsong Productions!

We're delighted that you may be interested in getting involved in creative dramatics and theatre for young people. You will not be disappointed and will soon learn that the world of theatre provides many opportunities to: meet new people, try new things, dare, collaborate, use your imagination, and yes perhaps learn a bit more about theatre in the process. Students first grade through college are invited to participate...indeed, our holiday productions invite friends ranging in age from five to seventy-five...the more the merrier! to learn more about everything theatre related...from acting, singing, dance for the stage, and backstage technical theatre, to stage managing, running crew, set and properties building, painting, sound, and light designing and/or learning all about front of house, Odyssey Theatre for the Young of Art has something especially for you.

Odyssey Theatre's season consists of two to three theatre workshops. Goatsong Productions usually adds another two shows to the mix with our Goatsinger Shows.

The rules of the workshop remain the same and are essential for any successful show:

      ----RESPECT FOR SELF

      ----RESPECT FOR OTHERS

      ----RESPECT FOR PLACE/SPACE

This translates as acts of kindness, sharing with others, leaving no one out, including everyone....this goes for everyone no matter their age, intern status, etcetera as we believe that at the heart of successful theatre is the the type of unity that results from such kindess--unity that inspires the true MAGIC of THEATRE and distinguishes a mere play into a hugely successful theatre experience for all!

If you are an educator and you know of students who might benefit from this workshop, please encourage their participation regardless of their ability to commit financial resources. We remain committed to offering as many scholarships for students as there are students who wish to participate. These are need-based financial scholarships, and we are proud to say that no student has ever been denied a spot.

Also, if you have students aged 7th-12th or college students who are interested in interning this summer, we encourage their participation--with or without technical and/or backstage experience. It's all about learning and having fun!!

"It's really all about playing. After all, it is called PL
AY!

Drop a note if you have questions or call at 319-213-0147. And feel free to pass along the information and/or registration to anyone you feel may be interested. Otherwise, we'll see you at the start of the workshop in either Spring or Summer--or perhaps BOTH!!

Sincerely, Karla M. Steffens-Moran and Mike Moran, Odyssey Theatre for the Young of Art and Goatsong Productions
